DESCRIPTION: 
  • Small, attractive thornless tree.

  • Height: 15-25 feet.

  • Flowers: Small, creamy-white in clusters.

  • Fruit. 5-part woody capsule.

  • Foliage.- Evergreen, citrus-like, glossy, dark-green.

  • Bark: Whitish.

  • Growth rate: Slow.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Sun: Shade.

  • Soil: River bank.

  • Drainage: Moderate.

  • Water. Moderate.

  • Maintenance: Little needed.

  • Propagation: Seed.


NATIVE HABITAT: Resaca bank.
WILDLIFE USE: 

Cover.

COMMENTS:

Only a few individuals have survived clearing of its habitat along resaca banks; rarest of native trees in Texas.
